Warner sets date of The Wicker Man remake and changes The Reaping release.

Warner Bros. announced that Neil LaBute's The Wicker Man will hit theaters September 1st, 2006.

In a remake of the 1973 British horror thriller of the same name, Nicolas Cage plays a reclusive sheriff who goes to search for his estranged daughter after she mysteriously disappears on a secluded island. When he arrives, he senses something more is amiss among the island's secretive residents as he starts to uncover a mystery involving strange sexual rituals, a harvest festival and possible human sacrifice.

WB also flip-flopped the release date for their Dark Castle pic The Reaping, pushing the date back to November 8th from it's originally planned August 11th date. In The Reaping, Hilary Swank plays a former Christian missionary who lost her faith after her family was tragically killed, and has since become a world-renowned expert in disproving religious phenomena. But when she investigates a small Louisiana town that is suffering from what appear to be the Biblical plagues, she realizes that science cannot explain what is happening and she must regain her faith to combat dark forces threatening the community.
