Responsible for "Snakes on a Plane" is put into "Asylum".

Hot off the tail of New Line Cinema's highly anticipated Snakes on a Plane, director Davis Ellis will direct Asylum for Ashok Amritraj's Hyde Park Entertainment, which is producing and fully financing the pic, according to Variety. The film is set to start lensing later this year.

But what the heck is Asylum about?

Well, I donĀ“t know, but the always up-to-date website Bloody-Disgusting got the full scoop right from Ellis' mouth... and they're telling!

Based on a script by Ethan Lawrence, the story is, according to Ellis, "about a group of college freshmen who attend a summer orientation at their college. They are confronted by past tragic events in their lives and terrorized by a evil doctor that used to run the asylum, who performed various acts of torture on the patients. They have to figure out if it's real or if they are the just imagining it. When they realize it is in fact real it becomes a non-stop chase from the Dr. to stay alive".

B-D also were curious about what exactly caused Ellis to pick this script over many others, "I was attracted to the script and to the idea of doing a independent film with Ashok from Hyde Park... we will retain more creative control. I like working in the R-rated horror films and this one will scare the shit out of people! I am working again with my producing partner, and daughter, Tawny Ellis."

Hyde Park recently announced it is financing and producing helmer James Wan's Death Sentence through its first-look, five-year deal with 20th Century Fox. Hyde Park also has a second-look deal with Disney.
